4 hikes in the Perth Hills
Just outside the city, the Perth Hills provide walkers with a variety of stunning settings and numerous hiking possibilities, with short and long options to choose from. Here are four of the best.
Eagle View Walk
A 15km loop around John Forrest National Park, the Eagle View Walk is for moderate hikers and takes around 5-6 hours to complete. Along the track you’ll find city and ocean views, and a range of scenic settings.
Lesmurdie Falls Bush Walk
Situated in Lesmurdie Falls National Park, the walk stretches 2km and should take between one and two hours. Winter and Spring provide the best scenery with views across the Falls as well as right out to the city.
Araluen Botanic Garden Walks
The Araluen Botanic Park provides four trails of distances spanning from the 600m Heritage Walk to the 3km Bush Walk. Of note, is that the two remaining options, the 800m Contour Board Walk and the 1km Three Bridges Walk, are both suitable for wheelchairs.
A long-distance option is the Kep Track – a 75km trail from Mundaring to Northam, which provides a range of possibilities, including tackling short 1-2 hour segments, or completing the entire track, which will take a couple of days.
